Automation Quick Start Guide

The Automation Studio is a powerful tool to create and edit rules which can send messages when a set criteria is met. The Automation Studio also provides a log displaying the various messages that have been sent based on the created rules, as well as the associated analytics.

The Automation Studio provides Scripted Automation which is an advanced tool allowing programmatic creation of automation rules. For more information on Scripted Automation, refer to our support documentation.

Creating an Automation Condition

NOTE: Depending on the rule level selected, options will be different.

  1. Click Create Standard Rule.
  2. Select the Rule Level:
  3. Click Choose.
  4. Select the Field.
  5. Select the inequality (i.e., greater than, less than) or range.
  6. Enter the desired Value.

NOTE: Multiple conditions may be added to the automation rule.

  8. Select the Matching Criteria.
  9. Select the timeframe for which the conditions will be checked for.
  10. Click >Step2.

NOTE: The rule processor runs every 4 hrs UTC and will run as soon as possible corresponding to the selected condition timeframe selected.

Creating a Automation Action

  1. Select Email Notification action.
  2. Select the email address from the drop-down list.
  3. Click >Step 3.

  1. Select Slack Notification action.
  2. Select the desired Channel from the drop-down list.
  3. Click >Step 3.

NOTE: Multiple actions may be added to the automation rule.

  1. Enter the Rule Name.
  2. Select the desired Check Frequency.
  3. Select the Date Range.
  4. Check Run Indefinitely. (Optional)
  5. Click Create.

NOTE: The automation rule processor runs every 4 hrs UTC starting at 1:30am. For example, if a rule is created at say, 7 pm with an interval of every 6 hrs. This rule will be picked up by the processor asap, i.e. at 9:30 pm and will be executed. After the first run, the 6 hr interval will be considered. So this rule will not be picked up by the processor at 1:30 am again (since only 4 hrs passed). It will be picked up again at 5:30 am the next morning, since 8hrs(>6) has passed.

NOTE: When Run Indefinitely is checked, the automation rule will continue to be applied at the selected interval and will remain in effect regardless of how many times it has run.

The Automation Logs provide a reference for the status of the automations that have been created and sent. Logs can be filtered to locate a specific log, or logs may be navigated through.

The Automation Analytics tab provides the ability to view datasets across the selected timeframe.

As many datasets as desired may be selected in order to display the most relevant information for you. Each dataset will be displayed in a unique color and mousing over any of the dataset day intersections to view the corresponding data. A dataset can be removed by clicking on the associated “X”.
